Bus Riders
Students who live more than 1¼ mile from school can ride the bus to school. Metro Schools will mail information, but families can check Find My Bus Stop from the MNPS Transportation site for bus routes, and pick-up and drop off locations.
Students Who Walk to School
Students who walk to school are dismissed through the doors by the gym. The preferred method of dismissal for all non bus-riders is the car rider loop.
Car Riders
- Parents should have a placard in the front dash with their student's first and last name.
- Teachers and staff are assigned to help parents navigate the traffic circle. Please be patient and follow the safety rules.
- There is no cell phone use allowed during arrival and dismissal per Tennessee state law and the safety of our children.
Car Rider Protocol for Drop Off
To prepare your child to exit the car, please have them ready with school supplies in hand, and goodbyes finished, once you cross the last speed bump.
- Drivers do not exit their car during drop-off.
- Drop off begins at 7:40 a.m. and students must exit from the passenger side of their cars.
- Students can use this extra time to enjoy breakfast in the Café.
- Breakfast is free to all students.
- The front doors close at 9:00 a.m.
- If students arrive after 9:00 a.m., parents are required to walk children in, and sign them in at the front desk.
Car Rider Protocol for Pick-Up
- Dismissal begins promptly at 3:55.
- Parents, grandparents and other caretakers will first line up in the two lanes that lead to the school. Please do not proceed to the front of the school until the SRO or staff member motions you to do so.
- Cars will be guided into the 3 lanes in front of school. Have your student's name ready and visible in the front dash of your car. (Note: Your student's name can be written on a plain sheet of paper; it does not have to be an official ILMS placard.)
- Students are asked to wait before all lanes of traffic have stopped moving.
- The two outside lanes will be dismissed first, followed by the middle lane.
- The SRO or staff member will guide the next round of cars into the two side lanes first, then fill up the middle lane.
