Inspiring Students to Think, Create, and Lead!

What if school were not just about learning facts, but about living them? At Isaac Litton STEM Magnet Middle School, our superpower is creating authentic learning experiences that prepare students for the real world. Through STEM, hands-on labs, and project-based learning, students aren't just studying concepts- they are applying them to solve problems and tell stories.

This year, students have tapped into that superpower in incredible ways. For example, our 6th-grade students will research ways to reduce the impact of invasive species in our local ecosystems, applying science and engineering to support our community.

Creativity also plays a big role in our superpower. In partnership with the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum and the Isaac Litton Alumni Association, students have become songwriters and storytellers, exploring how music can connect generations. Their top songs were even recorded on-site during a field trip to the museum, allowing students to see their ideas come to life.

We also host monthly STEM and Career Connections Lunch and Learns, as well as a weekly Day of Discovery for 7th- and 8th-grade students with Vanderbilt University scientists. These opportunities provide students with the chance to engage with professionals and envision their future careers.

"Our teachers are invested and excited to create real-world connections for our students," said Mrs. Karandikar, Isaac Litton MSAP Curriculum Specialist. "At Litton, students receive not only high-quality instruction and curriculum but also exposure to careers and experiences that show them how to apply their learning to improve their community or pursue their personal interests!"

At Isaac Litton, we don't just imagine superpowers, we live them every day. Whether it's in the science lab or art studio, on the soccer field, in the band room, or at a museum recording studio, our students are demonstrating that their curiosity, creativity, and collaboration have the power to change the world.
